About Zev Builders

Zev Builders is a community and education program that teaches Nigerians to build real applications, with or without AI, and deploy them on ZevCloud, billed in naira, with no dollar card and no FX barrier. We run cohorts led by an instructor, publish free lessons, and grow a community of builders who ship real projects and share them. It is early: we have our first users and our first cohort is being built now. We are looking for the person who will help this become something real and lasting: a community that feels human, not a faceless online startup.

Role summary

Own the day-to-day of the Zev Builders community and keep the cohort engine running smoothly, so the program grows, stays warm and well-run, and pulls builders into the Zev ecosystem. You will be the founder's force-multiplier here, not a replacement. The founder stays visible and involved while you take the operational weight, so the program does not depend on one person's spare hours.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the Zev Builders WhatsApp community day to day: welcome new members, keep it active and warm, answer or route questions, and keep the tone human.
  • Own a clear response rhythm so no builder is left with an unanswered "my deploy failed" for days.
  • Uphold the community code of conduct, and protect the one rule that is never broken: no one ever collects money from builders in Zev's name.
  • Coordinate cohort logistics end to end: enrollment through ZevID, scheduling, reminders, setting up and running live sessions on Microsoft Teams, tracking attendance, and issuing co-branded certificates.
  • Support the team on the first cohort, then coordinate future cohorts with guest instructors.
  • Make sure every cohort ends the way it should: builders who shipped something real and got their certificate.
  • Draft articles and updates around Zev Builders and what the community is shipping.
  • Write and send the community newsletter.
  • Run the #BuiltWithZev showcase: collect what builders make and put it in front of people.
  • Turn cohorts and community moments into short posts and recaps.
  • Help move us from our current early base toward our first 1,000 builders.
  • Activate members: nudge people to build, deploy, and share, so the community produces real signals and real ZevID accounts.
  • Bring ideas for reaching more builders across Nigeria, online first.
  • Track and share the numbers that matter: ZevIDs activated, apps deployed, cohort completion, and community health (active members, response times).

Requirements

  • Technically literate: you can deploy a simple app yourself and understand cloud and web basics well enough to talk to developers credibly and triage a problem before escalating it. This is the one requirement we will not bend on.
  • Already active in a tech community: you take part in Nigerian tech or developer communities because you like it, not because it is a job title.
  • Organized and reliable: you deliver what you said you would, on time, without being chased.
  • A clear writer: you can write a clean article, a newsletter, and a community message that sounds human.
  • Warm and responsive: people feel welcome around you, and you actually reply.
  • Trustworthy: you will hold the community's admin access and represent the brand. Integrity is not optional.
  • A self-starter: you run with things. The point of this role is that it does not sit on the team.

Nice to have

  • You have deployed on ZevCloud or used platforms like Vercel, Railway, or similar.
  • You have run a WhatsApp or Telegram community before.
  • You have written newsletters or articles for an audience.
  • You already have a network in the Nigerian developer or builder scene.
  • You can make simple community graphics (for example, in Canva).

How we work

  • Quality over hype. We teach people to build things that actually work, not the lazy shortcut way. That standard shows up in everything, including the community.
  • Human, not corporate. We would rather feel like a real group of builders than a polished, empty brand.
  • Honest. We do not overclaim. We say what is true about where we are.
  • The free rule is sacred. Everything in Zev Builders is free to participants. Anyone charging builders in our name is removed, no exceptions.

How to apply

Interested candidates should send their CV and portfolio link to careers@zevop.com.

Send a short note on why you, and what you have built or communities you have been part of. Include one quick sample: either a short welcome message you would post to a new builder in the community, or a two-line outline for a Zev Builders article. Keep it short. We are looking at how you think and write, not length. We move quickly with people who fit.
